With Better Access Support Services, we can help you engage with your friends, family, or other people in the community. Without meaningful relationships, people are at a higher risk of social isolation. This is why Better Access aim to give their participants the opportunity to access group activities, recreational interests, and social engagements to ensure they are able to be included in their community. 

Social and Community Participation is funded from your Core and Capacity Building budgets in your NDIS plans. Whether you are wanting to attend an activity on your own, with a group of your peers, or with support to help you participate, Better Access Support Services is here to help.

The development of meaningful social connections can help increase your independence and confidence in lots of ways. By engaging in the local community, whether this is through work, volunteering or recreational activities; Our participants can expand on their individual capacities and feel a strong sense of achievement. 



Holidays & Day Trips

If you have funding for Short Term Accommodation or Community Participation in your NDIS plan, we may be able to organise short trips away or day trips with the assistance of an experienced support team member. Better Access Support Services can help you plan a holiday based around your funding budget; whether it’s a trip to the beach, a day out at a theme park or attending a family function out of town, we are able to help work out your support needs and plan with you. 

You may require one-on-one support for the duration of your trip, our team can work with you to find the right supports and arrange connections with suitable providers for wherever you’re heading.

Planning a holiday can be stressful and complex sometimes, we can minimise the hassles for you and your family. Participants retain full choice and control over their trip and the supports they access within their budget limits; Better Access can be there to ensure things run smoothly and help link you with providers and supports to help you while away.



What can your Community Participation funding be used for?

Community Participation is a broad term and can include a range of activities, including:

• Employment and Supported Employment
• Courses, classes & other forms of education
• Social and Recreational Activities 
• Sport & Exercise
• Volunteering
• Doctor or Specialist Appointments
• Participation in Community Events
• Access to Public Transport & Support

What Costs can be Covered?

If you are funded for Social and Community Participation, you can have a range of costs covered, including those associated with:

• One-on-one support
• Group based Supports
• Transport to & from the activity if needed
• Capacity Building or Tailored Activity Supports
